Advanced Integration of UKG Pro WFM / Dimensions with Active Directory Using Adaxes Remote
Our client is a distinguished entity in the financial services sector. They were confronted with some inefficiencies in the synchronization of workforce management data across their disparate systems. Their organization had relied heavily on UKG Pro (formerly called UltiPro) for their employee management functions but had encountered some substantial barriers maintaining an automated, smooth and smooth integration with their Active Directory (AD). So, recognizing this critical need to optimize this critical process, they approached us as consultants. They asked us to architect a steadfast integration framework that would facilitate real time, error less data synchronization across both these platforms.
The Challenge:
Prior to the engagement, the client faced a range of operational bottlenecks:
- The absence of a fully automated, bidirectional integration between UKG Pro and Active Directory.
- Frequent data discrepancies, manual errors, delayed updates, etc.
- With exponential growth in workforce size, the manual processes for syncing user data between two platforms were increasingly unsustainable.
- Security and compliance were also pressing concerns. Sensitive information was being transferred with limited control over data integrity.
The Solution:
- We facilitated seamless communication between UKG Pro and Active Directory through the creation of bespoke PowerShell scripts, using Adaxes. We orchestrated the AUTH/GET API calls between the two systems.
- We worked with the SBUX Architects, third party vendors/stakeholders and finalized the best architecture aligning SBUX architecture.
- We also used our experience with Kronos WFC & WIM interface and other integration approaches to deliver results.
- We automated the synchronization of employee data i.e. user roles, permissions, lifecycle management, etc, thereby enhancing data accuracy.

The Problems We Faced:
- Complex API constraints with the limitations inherent in UKG Pro’s API framework; required us to employ advanced workarounds for reliable data exchange.

- Customization & scalability due to a severe need for highly customized PowerShell scripts added complexity to the solution.
What We Achieved:
- Enhanced operational efficiency with the user data synchronization automation between UKG Pro and Active Directory. Basically, we reduced the need for manual intervention.
- Strong security framework due to which the integration adhered to the highest security standards. Possible future issues of unauthorized access, data breaches prevented.

This integration really empowered their focus on their core business while also keeping their workforce data well synchronized, accurate, secure at the same time.
