Weekly Tip 39

OS Offline Servicing

You can apply updates to your images from the ConfigMgr console. Go to Software Library > Operating Systems > Operating System Images and select Schedule Updates in the ribbon.

Follow the wizard to schedule the updates. At the end, you can go ahead and update the image to your DP’s, or you can open the Properties of the image, go to the Data Source tab, and update them on a schedule (or once, which is an option).

Note the after you import an image for the first time, a lot of updates will show up as needing to be applied. These are likely updates that you applied during your image creation process. ConfigMgr will not try to apply these updates again, it just needs to go through the motions to know that they are already there.
